The restaurant

On Via Antonio Monti since 1978: Ticino and Iberian cooking, a wall of wines and, upstairs, the rooms.

The Borgovecchio sign: a large red wax seal bearing the name Borgo Vecchio and the year 1978 in Roman numerals

Since 1978, and since 2020 as a team

Borgovecchio has carried this name since 1978. Since October 2020 it has carried on under new management: a passion for good food, the Swiss dishes of the region and new seafood and meat specialities from Spain and Portugal.

To give this house a future we chose to work as a team, not as individuals: a group of young professionals, and aspiring ones, with a single aim — your satisfaction.

The dining room

White tablecloths, red curtains, terracotta panels on the ceiling and photographs of Balerna as it was. A room for a working lunch or a family dinner, and a larger space for big groups.

The wine shop corner with the lamp and the Fumagalli bottles
The wall of wines under the glass chandelier

The wine room and the wine shop

Inside the restaurant, a wall of bottles: Fumagalli’s Merlot from Balerna, Ortelli from Corteglia, Trapletti and Mezzana from Coldrerio, then sparkling wines and wines from further afield. Drink them at the communal wooden table or take them home: the wine shop will advise and help you choose.

The terrace and parties

The terrace is set up in summer and in winter, for an aperitivo, drinks with a buffet supper or a party in the open air. The dining room and the terrace host big groups, birthdays, ceremonies and company dinners, with menus made to measure.

The rooms

Above the dining room, on the upper floors and reached by stairs. Each room has its own name and, on the wall, its own black-and-white photograph: a vineyard, an alley, a boat on the lake.
